Silent Sentinels
Open Daily 11.00am - 5.00pm
Following her successful exhibition at The Crypt in 2018, Katy’s new body of work focusses on Trees. She draws influence from mythology, philosophy and psychology, where the trees’ roots, trunk and crown are representative of the discovery, purpose and meaning of life.
Drawn to ancient sites, where history merges with myth and nature, Katy’s practice embraces the medium of paint in all its variety. Layered with collage, found text, frottage and mark making, she paints to reveal her physical and emotional relationship to the natural world. Katy explores our lost connections with the Earth, and how this impacts on the cycle of life. Through research and location based exploration, the process evolves organically and is all consuming and immersive. She creates a powerful sense of place and time lost, often including subtle elements as metaphors for the invisible aspects of nature and the impact of human interventions on the planet.
Katy’s work is held in private collections in the UK and overseas.
